SEIRIN needles are used for holding samples of asteroid Ryugu particles.
SEIRIN's technology is also applied in the field of science.
Our needle was used to hold the sample brought back by Hayabusa 2 (asteroid probe).

This is a sample taken back from the asteroid Ryugu in the Hayabusa 2 asteroid exploration research. A needle-shaped object with a flat tip picks up the sample and observes it with an electron microscope.

This customer is quite unique, even among those we serve through our contract manufacturing.
While our company primarily manufactures needles used in medical devices, we also offer custom needle processing services. We regularly receive inquiries from public research institutions as well. However, I did not expect to be involved in such a big project.

It seems that a shape with a cut-off tip was required in order to hold the sample.

Our company not only manufactures needles for medical devices (acupuncture needles) but also processes needles according to the ordered materials and shapes.
Of course, since we primarily utilize our existing equipment, the processing will be limited to what can be handled in-house.
